The Change Starts With Us

Make A Difference In Our Community Today

ABOUT
We are community volunteers proactively seeking to control the local feral cat population of Nora Springs in a constructive and humane fashion by using Trap Neuter Release methods. We encourage you to join us in our mission.

Local, feral cats are humanely trapped, transported to a local Veterinarian where they are spayed or neutered, given rabies and distemper shots, and one ear is tipped. Once they are recovered, they are returned to their place of capture to resume their place in the community.

Mission

The Nora Springs Community Cats (NSCC) is dedicated to reducing the free-roaming cat population through a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. We work alongside community caregivers who maintain established feeding stations to ensure cats receive proper care, monitoring, and support. All sterilized cats are eartipped for identification, and caregivers are trained to report uneartipped cats for trapping and sterilization. NSCC also provides assistance with population tracking, low-cost veterinary services, and resources for ongoing colony care.

Vision

A compassionate community where every cat—owned or free-roaming—is treated humanely, populations are responsibly managed, and people and animals coexist in harmony. The purpose of the Nora Springs Community Cats (NSCC) organization is to humanely manage and reduce the population of free-roaming cats within the Nora Springs community through evidence-based, sustainable practices. The mission of the Nora Springs Community Cats is to implement and maintain an effective Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program as a humane and scientifically supported method for controlling the free-roaming cat population. NSCC collaborates with community caregivers who oversee established feeding stations to ensure the continued health, safety, and monitoring of these colonies. All sterilized cats are eartipped for identification, and caregivers are trained to recognize and report uneartipped cats for trapping and sterilization. The organization further supports caregivers by facilitating access to low-cost veterinary services, assisting with colony data collection, and providing resources that promote responsible and sustainable population management. Nora Springs Community Cats envisions a community in which free-roaming cats are treated with compassion, their populations are responsibly managed through humane and cooperative efforts, and residents and animals coexist in a healthy, balanced environment.
